Testimonials
When our groups come to a close we ask the participants to tell us about their experience. We have had some wonderful feedback. Here's just some of the things mums have said about our groups:
How attending the group benefited them
I realised that I am not the only one feeling the way I do
I feel more positive about being a mother
I made great new friends
I learnt a lot
Getting in to a routine of getting out of the house, being able to open up about sensitive topics
Friendship, time to reflect, advice, support from people who 'get it'
Feel more confident and calm
Talking about things that cause stress / difficulty helps to make me more relaxed at home
About the group facilitators
Amazing, friendly, caring ladies
Awesome. They always ensured people were comfortable, safe and secure.
Very friendly, open-minded, excellent communicators, understanding and interesting. I feel like they really made everyone feel very welcome and at ease. They were obviously well-organised with the sessions being well-prepared and running really smoothly even with un-expected hiccups.
Really made coming to the group an enjoyable time and seemed to work really well together and bounce ideas/topics off each other
What the participants enjoyed most about their group
The honesty and candour
Listening and sharing. Having the opportunity to reflect and develop new ideas.
Real discussion about real issues.
This Mothers Network group was a breath of fresh air and people were actually honest about how they feel, which was great
Having some time just for me. Being able to enjoy a hot cup of tea on a cold day while having a good chat was amazing.
Hard to pick one thing... getting out of the house, feeling supported, being listened to, having a break from the baby, meeting people with common backgrounds and experiences
It was great hearing fellow Mums' stories and insights and discovering things you share in common. The tea/coffee/morning tea provided was lovely. Also the babysitting service was fantastic.
That it was just for me, ie. we weren't just sitting there talking about our babies and it was nice to know that other mums were experiencing similar things to me
The laughs :) Also finding out that I am not alone in my feelings and experiences. Having a cup of tea made for me and to be able to drink it (and have some yummy snacks) without my little one tugging at my leg was also fantastic. I would be on a real buzz after each session
The sessions were very relaxed in a friendly, non-judgmental environment which made it easy to chat and open up. The groups are a nice size too which also helped.
How life would be different without the Mothers Network Group
I wouldn't be where I am just now with my job search or feeling so positive and normal
I think I would have struggled more mentally and felt less supported
I wouldn't get new power and inspiration. Now I know how hard it is to be a mum from someone else's perspective
I would feel more isolated
I was struggling a bit and this really helped support me and get myself picked up
