About our Groups
Our facilitated peer discussion group sessions allow mothers to take some quality time for themselves.
When we become mothers our attention naturally goes to our children. But, we all still need adult conversation and the chance to be honest about our motherhood experience with others who understand. We offer a safe, relaxed environment totally focused on your needs.
Sessions are two hours a week for six weeks, and there will be no more than a dozen women in each group.
We cover topics such as:
If this sounds like what you’re after, get in touch to join a group.
Facilitators
Our groups are run by mum's from Mothers Network who want to give back to other mothers. They’ve all gone through a group themselves, and completed our facilitator training.
The facilitators are there to help everyone feel comfortable, get to know each other and explore the topics you care about.
Childcare
Our daytime groups have babysitters on site so you can focus on you throughout each session. All of our babysitters are also mothers, and have been through the relevant police checks.
Who Can Attend?
Mums with young children will get the most out of our group sessions. Most attendees have pre-school age children. But, there are plenty of mums who come with school aged children too.
Cost
Your place in this group has already been paid for.
Mothers Network operates on a pay it forward model. That means your spot was funded by the generous donation of a previous group attendee. This is part of our commitment to making sure that no one is excluded from our groups on the basis of income.
We invite you to do the same and pay it forward for another mum. Our groups cost on average $200 per person to run. We try to raise $60 per person for each group from other mums paying it forward (more if we can) and then we cover the rest through grants.
We know family finances vary, so it's completely up to you to decide what you’re able to contribute.
Special Interest Groups
We know that no two mums are the same, but meeting mothers with similar experiences can be relieving and uplifting.
What sort of support group are you after? Groups for stepmums, NICU mums, refugee mums, queer mums, mums of transgender children, or something else?
Let us know and we’ll do our best to organise a group that fits your needs.
Beyond the Groups
It’s important to us that we help you foster a support network that’ll last beyond the six weeks you’re with us. We continue to support mums by helping them stay in touch with each other through events and newsletters.

- how our bodies have changed
- the financial challenges of parenting
- balancing work and family
- finding ways of support and goals for the future.
