Megan is one of the Mums who was a member of our Term 4 2012 Island Bay group. Megan wrote this special poem about her experiences and what led her to Mothers' Network. Thank you for sharing it with us Megan.
Sometimes we gallop down the path Today we pick flowers on the way we go slow We won’t get there very fast, infact we’re gonna be late Mummy will just have to learn to go with the flow Sometimes we want our Mamas close Cause we need to have a cry Our burden has got heavy and we can no longer try To juggle all the jobs at once Somethings gotta give We lose our sleep, we lose our minds We lose what we’re about We forget to give ourselves a break and we need to have it spelled out That Mummy is important too and other things can wait The chores can marinate tonight cause Mummy needs a break We long for peace and quiet but we want our voice heard And date nights so far have only ended up absurd! We just want some chocolate or a soppy DVD or maybe a bath of bubbles and a glass of pinot gris We learn the lesson that to truly treat ourselves we need to pay a babysitter and get the hell out of the house Sometimes we have to raise our voice Sometimes we need to scream! We can’t seem to tell our partners what we really need And they get annoyed with us and want to have some space Did our friends with kids just not tell us about what parents face? But sometimes a woman has to do what a woman has to do She needs to make a plan right now or she will be screwed To do something she used to do, like going to a gig or throwing back a wine or beer, or in the garden to dig It’s ok to be angry or be bitter for a while, Cause when we’re tired our emotions, they tend to run wild But taking some time out to breathe, and talking to a friend, or joining a mothers network group before you go around the bend!
